Instructor Team Biographies

We are fortunate to have a great team of instructors and helpers at Daventry Tigers:

Mark Robson

Mark was a Royal Air Force pilot for 21 years before undergoing a major career change and now writes books for young people.  He has about 17 books currently in print.  Mark took up tae kwon-do as research for his book Imperial Spy and enjoyed it so much he has continued training for the last 11 years.  Having spent many years as a flying instructor and teaching creative writing in schools both in the UK and abroad, he is no stranger to teaching both adults and children.  His ambition is to make Daventry Tigers the best club in the TAGB!

Sarah Robson

Sarah is a barrister with Alpha Court Chambers.  She began training at tae kwon-do 12 years ago.  As a stickler for rules and regulations, you can be sure that no health & safety stone is left un-turned in Daventry Tigers!  She also has considerable experience as a lecturer in legal matters and brings an unusual balance of strict discipline and crazy fun to our classes.  Aside from tae kwon-do, she enjoys skiing, travelling and Thai food!

Tim Kennedy

Tim is a 2nd Degree black belt who trains with Master White.  He is qualified as an Assistant Instructor.  Tim is very enthusiastic about being a part of our Tigers Club and will in time make an excellent Instructor.  He's great with children and will no doubt quickly become a great asset to the Club.

Helen Kennedy

We are also delighted to have Helen Kennedy as a part of our team of helpers.  Helen is an excellent student of Tae kwon-do.  She has a super manner with the little ones and is very keen to progress to Black Belt so that she can get her Instructor qualification and formalise her position as a teacher.  She came top of her course at the TAGB Classroom Assistant Course and having already learned much of the theory knowledge required right through to 2nd Dan, she is also a bit of a theory guru, which should prove very useful in helping to teach this aspect of our sport to the little ones!

Daventry Tigers Junior Assistant Instructors:

In March 2014, Mark initiated a Junior Leaders Course at Daventry Tigers to develop young leaders from the older children who had graduated from Tigers to Master White's adult classes.  The course they undergo lasts six months during which the children attend regular sessions on instructional technique and must complete a broad spectrum of teaching tasks (under supervision) before being assessed by an outside examiner.

All students selected for this training must have attained above average results in their own belt gradings, be at least Blue belts and must be training regularly with Master White to continue their own tae kwon-do development
